|
If you are in sixth year, you can apply to study an open university course under the Young Applicants in Schools Scheme. Open University Science ‘short’ courses start at 4 different times of the year and you can choose how long to take over the course: either two and a half months or up to five months. At any one time there are at least 14 courses to choose from. Many of the courses complement or extend the science covered in Highers and Advanced Highers, others will allow you to demonstrate an interest in subjects beyond your school curriculum. More information can be found in the Course Choice section of the Filestore on the website. |

The new communities proposal for Grandhome (north Donside) has been selected to be part of the National Charrette programme. A 'charrette' is an interactive and intensive multi-disciplinary event that engages local people with experts to develop designs for their community. It is a hands-on approach where ideas are translated into plans and drawings.
This is a national community engagement exercise comprising intensive, interactive sessions which involve local people and organisations in the early planning and design of their community. The event is sponsored by the Scottish Government through the Scottish Sustainable Communities Initiative (SSCI). The Grandhome Charrette will provide the people of Aberdeen with the opportunity to voice views and test ideas around how Aberdeen will evolve northwards.
Click here for further details about the Grandhome Charrette (requires Adobe Reader).

Fifth and Sixth Year Prelim Exam Results/Parents' Evening Monday 15 March |
|

Pupils are currently receiving the results of their Prelim Examinations. There will be the opportunity to discuss your son's or daughter's progress and the next steps with subject and guidance teachers at the Parents’ Evening on Monday 15 March. As a result of poor performance in the prelim exams, internal assessments and coursework, some pupils will not be presented for the final exam. Pupils will receive appointment sheets to allow parents to meet teachers on an individual basis. Some teachers who have concerns about individual pupils will make pre-arranged appointments and a copy of these will be sent home before the Parents' Evening. The first appointment is at 4.30pm and the last appointment at 7.00pm. Teachers welcome the opportunity to meet with parents of their pupils and discuss how they can best make progress before the final exams in May and June. |
